Harmen Bentley Behymer Steele

Harmen was born in Indiana. After a few moves and many great adventures, he found himself in the heart of North Carolina starting high school. At the beginning of his sophomore year, he was introduced to theater and quickly became consumed. The rest of his high school years were filled with work in the high school theater department and work at the local regional theater, Temple Theater.

Harmen then went on to the North Carolina School of the Arts to study stage management. While honing his stage management abilities, he also picked up some skills as a sound designer. In 1998 he earned a BFA in stage management with a minor in sound design and moved to Atlanta, GA to work at the Alliance Theater. After two years, Harmen left the Alliance Theater with some basic web skills and the future Ms. Harmen Steele.

Harmen spent the next years building and working on freelance Web sites for small companies and musicians under the company name of Steele Ideas. Then in June of 2001 Harmen joined Donate.net as the Information Technology Specialist. This basically means that he is the team Jack of all technology.

Since joining the Donate.net staff, Harmen has redesigned the entire system and migrated it from Microsoft Commerce Server. This redesign also included an upgrade from MSSQL 6.5 to MSSQL 2000 and a focus on a Web standards and 508 friendly product.

During his time at Donate.net, Harmen has learned advanced design and development techniques. He increased his knowledge of Microsoft technologies. Harmen continued to do freelance work as Steele Ideas, focusing on projects that relied open source technologies like PHP and MySQL.
